Family

I’ve always wanted a big family. There has been nothing in my life that has made me happier than being a father. When I look at my daughters, Jillian and Colbie, I see everything that is beautiful about life and right in the world.

My family doesn’t end there though. I have some of the best friends a man could ask for. We are brothers. Bound together through fate and a love for each other that no one can fracture. We have been through some of the best times together. We’ve endured tragedies together. We always show up for those big moments in each other’s lives. Showing up is a major part of showing someone you care. We are honest, open, and supportive of each other like brothers should be.

When it comes to family, I don’t think I’m done growing mine yet. I look forward to the possibility of being a dad to even more. I think that God will bring me just what his word proclaims. Redemption in that area. To set my feet on a firm foundation, plant a seed, and watch it grow. Family is everything to me. Whether blood, a close friend, or a colleague, I’ve always held those close to me in high regard. I think it’s part of my DNA.

My great grandparents, Orb and Celeste Stone instilled value in treating others like family. We continue to carry that same tradition to this day. They used to have a store called Stone’s Market out in what is now West Little Rock. I’ve heard countless stories of how they would make sure you had what you needed even if you couldn’t afford it or were down on your luck. If you showed up to get gas but forgot your wallet, don’t worry about it. You can pay next time. Your kids are whining about getting candy, but you can’t buy it for them…no problem,” You get whatever you need sweetie” That is the world we should hope to live in. My grandparents were the same way, and I believe I carry the same quality in me.

I look forward to having an even bigger family one day to share my life with.
